Hopefully I bought something to the side in the 3 seasons I was there, when I joined it was after you were having a bad run and now after 4 straight defeats I consider this the time to go.

Starting on Sunday is our first cup final, the disappointment of being dismissed from 3 Cups in consecutive games will come to an end this Sunday when we play Hilton,
We havent got time to fill sorry for ourselves Sunday is a must win and I don’t care how you achieve it!
The 11 Selected Squad members will have the task of playing to our game plan and then bring you own game to the party,
We need and win and I expect one, after that we will have won our first cup final and then we move on to our second cup final.

As you can all see from the league table and results from Sunday we are now firmly in control of the league, In short we have 19 Cup Finals to compete in and I will show you how to win, we are too nice
Starting on Sunday there are 3 points to be won not friends.
The side that is put out along with our next 4 massive games will be put out to tale 12 points,
I will be looking for winners who will compete whether in the starting line up or when you come on,
In short we have become a soft touch and if this makes you angry and annoyed and mad with me GOOD prove me wrong.
We have no right to take 3 points from any games we have to earn them, and any side who take any single point from us will know they have been in a battle.
Every emotion that you had after our defeat on Sunday must be channelled into a victory.
Last season when we knocked The Sump out in the semi Final of the Cup they took all the positives and went on to win the league from nowhere , I will be looking for that attitude
Dave
I have to agree with Dave as i’ve spoken to a few of you this week and i know losing to Ticknall hurt, we need to make other teams feel like that when theyve played us because at the moment we are becoming an easy side to beat as we spend too much time blaming others in the side for our mistakes.
If you are reading this then just take a minute to think about your own performance on Sunday and think what could i have done better in my game because although some players played well not one player on the park can say that they didn’t make a mistake out there.
i don’t normally single out players but i really wish a lot more of you could have the passion and desire to win a game like Marc Sawdon, who didn’t start on Sunday but when he came on he quite clearly showed me he should have started, we all know Sawd would run through a brick wall to get a ball and he’s not bothered how many players go up the air doing so !!!

I have just had a text from Roy like you all possibly have had,
Roy has told us all that he had made a mistake in his team selection but the but stops firmly with me I could have stepped in and made the decision to override Roy but I was not looking for an assistant just to pay lip service I want an assistant to help me make decisions whether simple or hard.
Roys team selection was made with the best intentions as are all of Roys actions.
With a bit more luck in front of goal and better defending the result could have been completely different but that’s another story,
What is important is there were 11 squad members on the pitch who we will rely on and need as the season unfolds, I have said countless times that this is a squad game and a team game and Roy and myself are part of that team
I have seen times this season when individuals have made mistakes but I have never crucified any one and I will not let that happen to Roy,
Roy will continue to assist me and will be part of the decision-making team and I still look forward to working with him.
As far as motivation is concerned Roy is a complete inspiration and motivates myself when I get low with some of our performances.
I want us all to put this behind us and turn yesterday in to a positive of pushing on to the end of the season with our main priority of winning promotion.
Finally I class Roy as a friend as as all friends I will support them as I expect you all to

Submitted on 2011/01/24 at 8:03 amI was only there for 30 mins, although I was surprised we didnt start we the same 11 as the previous week, I strongly believe the 11 that started were good enough to win. You were 2 – 1 down when I left and you had footballed them off the park. They played to their strengths which was to play a ball over the top for Slater to run on too. I didnt see the other 2 goals, but can only assume it was a similar tactic. Roy and Dave have appologised so put it behind you and focus on the league. You were the better team for what I saw so take the positives, in football you dont always get what you deserve, but if you carry negative feelings into your next game you will. Be a squad ad support each other. This is probably the last chance we will have to get out of this league with this current squad so do it for each other.MacLets see some more commentsDave

I hope you are all fit and well for Sunday as I am looking to put our season firmly back on track, as last season we have fallen behind in our fixtures and whether we like it or nor we have an uphill struggle, I must have been boring the pants of you with my mention of the squad but if you remember last season on some occasions we were very short on the ground with numbers and even played with out substitutes,
We have a massive amount of games to play before the end of the season I have havent taken my eye off our main priority which is promotion, I can only ask you to be patient on selection,
If the fixtures are correct our next 4 matches after Sundays cup match are massive the matches are
away Hilton
away Shobnall
Home L.K.S.
away Ticknall
These are 4 massive fixtures against teams who consider they can win the league, and as we all know by now every side who play us look at it as we are the side to beat I a can assure you that the first fixture the whole league look at is ours.
Lets not disappoint them I am challenging you all to do what we have never been able to achieve and that is 5 straight wins which I am sure will put us at the top of the League or very close and in the Semi-Finalof the Cup
We are a club who deserves to be playing in a higher division and come the end of the season you will all have benefited.
We have big players who have all been in this position before and Roy and myself will be looking to you we can only pick the side we consider will win each match your commitment and and passion will win us through these matches

Sundays Quarter Final against Ticknall takes us into areas that I personally and Greenfield as a team, since I have been with you have never been
We are going into this match on the back of two straight defeats, the last time this happened was in November of 2009,
The next game we played was my first against Yoxhall where we then went onto 4 straight wins,
On Sunday we must turn this around with a win, and then go onto beat that run ” we have never gone 5 games with 5 straight wins”
The circumstances are different as on this occasion we have played 2 top teams, the sequence is still the same,
Hopefully the bad weather is now behind us and we can start playing regularly again and build up some momentum, our next 2 matches will pan out the rest of the season.
First Ticknall stand in our way as we moved forward to our goal of another Cup Final, then Hilton away,
The true facts of football are you must take more points off each and every opponent over two games before wining the league can be a reality,
after the 2-2 at home a win will give us 4 points from a possible 6. and Hilton will have lost 5 to us
I have never been beaten by Ticknall and I have no intention of starting on Sunday,
Roy and myself are looking for big performances all around the pitch, we still have to play them twice in the league so mentally this is a game which will have a bigger meaning,
Our strength this season has been how mean we have been in not giving away goals, when we are defensively minded team will push forward automatically, and that is our strength when we break,
The New Year and Season kicks off now ” ARE YOU READY”
We can and will win as long as we are fully committed,
Dave

It’s unusual to have a positive response to any defeat but after Sundays Cup defeat to Uttoxeter I would like to let you all know how proud I personally was to the whole squad,
The game was always going to be difficult and could easily had an embarrassing result after such a long lay off.
As always as a squad you responded to a new formation and were a credit to yourself and Greenfield,
off the pitch praise should also go to the substitutes for their attitude, it will always be difficult in team selection having such a large squad.
The result of 5-1 was very flattering as this was no reflection of the game, Uttoxeter will know they will have a lot easier games in their division,
If we had gone into the second half 1-1 who knows how the game could have panned out,
A special thought should go to Roy as I know how much he was looking forward to this match, and you done him proud, Look forward to seeing you next Sunday Roy.
Moving onto this Sunday we have yet another Cup game this time we entertain Ticknall in the quarter Final of the Divisional Cup,
Ticknall are having a very good season and after Sundays result they have now moved up to second place in the League which will make them very confident when they come to us on Sunday.
We will take them just as serious as the Uttoxeter game even though they have never beaten us since i have been managing the side.
This is a Cup we can win, Ticknal will not relish the game and we must knock this confidence out of them and as long as we can show the same commitment again we will book our self a Semi Final Place.

I may have confused a few of you on Sunday on my commitment to winning,
I have never been involved in any game of Football either playing, coaching or managing where I wanted anything less than to win,
I could never accept anything less than 100% commitment,
Loosing does happen but when it does I still want us to put everything into the 90 minutes,
If I ever give less I will be letting you down but more important I will be letting myself down,
In relation to that all I can ever ask is that at the end of each match if you can put your hand on your heart and say I could not have put in more tackles, made more runs and encouraged my team with any more enthusiasm.
I am still angry with any defeat
TWO RULES TO WINNING
RULE ONE
FIRST WIN
RULE TWO
THEN YOU CAN BE A GOOD SPORTSMAN
Again what would I have done to win ” What ever it takes”
Perhaps not a good sporting mentality but I wanted and still want to win DO YOU
DAVE
