Unfortunately this is the last blog I will put out on The Greenfield site,

In the whole I have enjoyed my time as your Manager but Today I was put in a position that made it impossible to continue,

Hopefully I bought something to the side in the 3 seasons I was there, when I joined it was after you were having a bad run and now after 4 straight defeats I consider this the time to go.

You still have 18 matches to gain promotion and I am still convinced with the right attitude and commitment you can still achieve the goal I set myself and the team.

I wish you all the very best for the remainder of the season and hope I will be welcomed if I come to watch on occasions,
Again thanks for the 3 great years I never thought I would be involved in football again
Good Luck

Dave

Cup Final No.1

Starting on Sunday is our first cup final, the disappointment of being dismissed from 3 Cups in consecutive games will come to an end this Sunday when we play Hilton,

We havent got time  to fill sorry for ourselves Sunday is a must win and I don’t care how you achieve it!

The 11 Selected Squad members will have the task of playing to our game plan and then bring you own game to the party,

We need and win and I expect one, after that we will have won our first cup final and then we move on to our second cup final.

Tomorrow at 1:15 Roy is being interviewed on Radio Derby as he has been nominated for an awardWe are searching for our unsung heroes in the 2011 Community Champions Awards.

They are the people who seek no reward for their outstanding effort.

Do you know someone who deserves to be praised?

If so we want to hear from you so we can celebrate their great work.

They might be a volunteer, a carer, a person who shows great courage, who inspires others, a fund raiser or maybe a great neighbour.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 8 April 2011

BBC Radio Derby wants your nomination for someone who deserves to be named a Community Champion.

There are 14 separate categories in the fifth annual awards, covering a wide range of endeavour – from inspirational children to someone who champions culture.

All you need to do is nominate the person you think ought to be recognised (see below) and tell us why.

We will be presenting the Community Champions Awards 2011 in a star-studded ceremony at Pride Park Stadium in May.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

We will be featuring some of the best stories on-air, online and giving out the Community Champions Awards 2011 to the winners at Pride Park Stadium in Derby on Sunday 22 May 2011.

Winners will be notified before the awards ceremony.

As you can all see from the league table and results from Sunday we are now firmly in control of the league, In short we have 19 Cup Finals to compete in and I will show you how to win, we are too nice

Starting on Sunday there are 3 points to be won not friends.

The side that is put out along with our next 4 massive games will be put out to tale 12 points,

I will be looking for winners who will compete whether in the starting line up or when you come on,

In short we have become a soft touch and if this makes you angry and annoyed and mad with me GOOD prove me wrong.

We have no right to take 3 points from any games we have to earn them, and any side who take any single point from us will know they have been in a battle.

Every emotion that you had after our defeat on Sunday must be channelled into a victory.

Last season when we knocked The Sump out in the semi Final of the Cup they took all the positives and went on to win the league from nowhere , I will be looking for that attitude

Dave

I have to agree with Dave as i’ve spoken to a few of you this week and i know losing to Ticknall hurt, we need to make other teams feel like that when theyve played us because at the moment we are becoming an easy side to beat as we spend too much time blaming others in the side for our mistakes.
If you are reading this then just take a minute to think about your own performance on Sunday and think what could i have done better in my game because although some players played well not one player on the park can say that they didn’t make a mistake out there.
i don’t normally single out players but i really wish a lot more of you could have the passion and desire to win a game like Marc Sawdon, who didn’t start on Sunday but when he came on he quite clearly showed me he should have started, we all know Sawd would run through a brick wall to get a ball and he’s not bothered how many players go up the air doing so !!!

I have just had a text from Roy like you all possibly have had,

Roy has told us all that he had made a mistake in his team selection but the but stops firmly with me I could have stepped in and made the decision to override Roy but I was not looking for an assistant just to pay lip service I want an assistant to help me make decisions whether simple or hard.

Roys team selection was made with the best intentions as are all of Roys actions.

With a bit more luck in front of goal and better defending the result could have been completely different but that’s another story,

What is important is there were 11  squad members on the pitch who we will rely on and need as the season unfolds, I have said countless times that this is a squad game and a team game and Roy and myself are part of that team

I have seen  times this season when individuals have made mistakes but I have never crucified any one and I will not let that happen to Roy,

Roy will continue to assist me and will be part of the decision-making team and I still look forward to working with him.

As far as motivation is concerned Roy is a complete inspiration and motivates myself when I get low with some of our performances.

I want us all to put this behind us and turn yesterday in to a positive of pushing on to the end of the season with our main priority of winning promotion.

Finally I class Roy as a friend as as all friends I will support them as I expect you all to

Dave

Submitted on 2011/01/24 at 8:03 amI was only there for 30 mins, although I was surprised we didnt start we the same 11 as the previous week, I strongly believe the 11 that started were good enough to win. You were 2 – 1 down when I left and you had footballed them off the park. They played to their strengths which was to play a ball over the top for Slater to run on too. I didnt see the other 2 goals, but can only assume it was a similar tactic.
Roy and Dave have appologised so put it behind you and focus on the league. You were the better team for what I saw so take the positives, in football you dont always get what you deserve, but if you carry negative feelings into your next game you will. Be a squad ad support each other.
This is probably the last chance we will have to get out of this league with this current squad so do it for each other.MacLets see some more commentsDave

Submitted on 2011/01/24 at 11:34 amThank you for your kind as always words Dave, i have to admit i was very disillusioned after the game yesterday, words fail me as to why we could not play the true formation of football 4 4 2, i have always been a firm believer in this formation, i am perhaps living in the past but i know that formation is a winning formation.
i do want to thank Taffy, Batesy, Dave S, Daz Hicko, Sawd, Nozza and Joe S who weren’t selected in the starting 11 yet even though i knew they where disappointed not to be selected they still went along with it without moaning or kicking off as players have done in the past,
you will all see that you as just as important to Greenfield as the starting 11 on Sunday.
We are a big squad and it is always hard to keep everyone happy, well not hard it’s damn near impossible, both myself and Dave are both agreed that with such a large squad we need to rotate players which will mean different formations as well, so if you are not in the starting 11 please don’t take it personally.
Disappointed as i was yesterday, don’t worry, i’m going nowhere as i still believe we have squad to win this league
See you all Sunday !!!
